Carla Aboorashtchi
Trustee
My background is in Early Years and Education, I currently work with families, supporting children and young people with Autism and ADHD through a local charity. I’m passionate about making a difference for families and hope to bring my experience of working in the voluntary sector to the Hillingdon Brain Tumour and Injury Group.
I also bring lived experience as a service user. My husband needed emergency brain surgery at the age of 37, which is when we discovered his brain tumour. As his tumour is inoperable, we have had to come to terms with this and focus on the support he needs to live well with his tumour. With the help of this charity, I’ve been able to support him through his recovery and the ongoing challenges that come with this journey.
I am passionate about community engagement and want to play an active role in supporting the charity’s strategy to help Hillingdon residents affected by brain tumours and injuries.
I truly believe in the power of kindness, empathy, and listening, I hope to use my experiences to support and empower others on their own journeys.
